Hojicha (焙じ茶) meaning ‘roasted tea’, is still a type of green tea even though it is brown in colour. The leaves are roasted in order to achieve their unique warm, nutty flavour and gentle aroma. With roasting, the tea leaves are brought to a high temperature, resulting in almost all of the tea’s caffeine being extracted from the leaves.
Hojicha Powder is the finely ground version of hojicha. Made by stone-grinding roasted green tea leaves—often bancha or kukicha—into a smooth, soluble powder, this tea offers all the comforting, toasty depth of hojicha in a versatile form perfect for lattes, baking, or straight-up sipping.

Preparation Suggestion
Whisk 1–2 tsp of hojicha powder with water (~80°C) until smooth. Add steamed milk or milk alternative for a soothing latte.
