Genmaicha (玄米茶), meaning "brown rice tea," is a traditional Japanese green tea blend made from bancha or sencha mixed with toasted brown rice.
Although it is called genmaicha, white mochi rice is usually used to create this blend. This is due to the fragrant aroma the white rice develops by roasting. Originally known as the “people’s tea,” it was created to make tea more affordable by blending it with roasted rice. Today, Genmaicha is cherished for its comforting, nutty flavor and easy drinkability.
This powder form is great for both making usucha (thin tea), cooking or baking.
Available and sold in both powder and loose leaf form
